Day-use parks are found throughout the area. From stands of giant redwood trees and lakes, to more humble parks with picnic tables and play areas, you will find places to enjoy for an hour or all day.

There is little information available on the Web for most of these parks. We will be adding to this list and the details shown to make your trip planning easier.

Special note about Yosemite: Although it in the next county, we include it as it is only 82 miles and is such a spectacular and popular site.

Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Calaveras Big Trees State Park features two giant groves of some of the oldest living redwoods trees in California. Located on the western slope of Sierra Nevada, the park includes a visitor center. Beaver Creek tumbles through acres of pine trees. The two groves of Big Trees survived heavy 19th century logging. A nature trail guides visitors on an easy stroll through th grove. Other areas of the park provide places for picnicking, fishing and hiking - including a magnificent view of the Sierra Nevada.

Facilities: Dump Station, Fishing, Hiking Trails, Iron Ranger, Nature Trails, Picnic Area, Showers, Swimming, Visitors Center.
White Pines Lake & Park

One mile from Arnold at the edge of White Pines across from the Moose Lodge; take Blagen Road to the White Pines Park sign and turn left. Playground, beach, swimming, picnic areas, group BBQ, horseshoe pits, fishing, boating (no motors) and volleyball.

Well stocked with Trout, some Bass and Catfish. Picnic Area, Swimming Area, no motorized boats allowed.The lake is private but all can fish. Good place for kids to fish. No overnight camping or campfires allowed.

Bass Fishing Trip for 2
Book a guided bass fishing trip for two. This would be a great package for father and son, and includes use of equipment, instruction and lunch for a cost of $250 per day (a 6-hour day). A professional bass fisherman will lead the trip and the instruction, and all take place on a beautiful Skeeter bass boat. Trips can be taken on New Melones Reservoir or Lake Tulloch. Both you AND your horse are welcome at GreenStone Ranch & Inn. Rental charges for the home includes stabling for up to six horses. You will have access to 800 acres at GreenStone Ranch & Inn and 1700 acres at another ranch just 5 minutes away on Murphys Grade Road.
