Domaine Becquet 27.20 miles
Map
2173 Highway 12 East, Valley Springs 95252, 209-728-3439

During the gold rush era, Domaine Becquet was known as "mountain gate," the perfect access to the foothills from Stockton, Lodi, Sacramento and the Bay Area. Close to three magnificent lakes (Comanche, Pardee, and Hogan), Domaine Becquet has an abundance of wildlife on it's 13 acres nestled along Lime Creek. The romance of the Sierra Foothills is quite evident at this elegant winery located 3 miles east of Valley Springs on Highway 12 at Double Springs Road where many French and Italian pioneers were seeking gold and planting vineyards. A small museum features that local Goldrush heritage. If the wines are California born, with their great personality and rich fruit, they clearly have a French accent, with complexity and finesse. Besides Zinfandels, Syrah and Sangiovese wines, Domaine Becquet also produces olive oil and honey "in the tradition of Provence." Tastings and luncheons Wednesday through Sunday, 11am to 5pm. Weddings and banquets also welcome. Call for an event schedule.
